Do you need Social Media Marketing?

Do you need Social Media Marketing?

Social media is everywhere and everyone is somehow connected. In fact, about 37% of the world’s population are social media users. That’s 2.77 billion people.

Let’s talk business. As a marketing agency, we still hear stories about and directly deal with clients who avoid social media altogether. We understand that it’s complicated and there are so many platforms to choose from. What we have to say to these clients is, if 2.77 BILLION people are on it, it’s guaranteed most of your prospects and customers are on it.

If that doesn’t get to you, consider the cost: starting a page or profile costs $0 and just a few moments of your time. Once that page is up and running, the potential to reach your customers is limitless. You can run ads for just a few dollars a day – like your cup of coffee.

Want statistics?

  • According to Hubspot, in 2014, 92% of marketers believed that social media marketing for their business was important
  • 80% of these marketers successfully increased website traffic through social media
  • According to Social Media Examiner, 97% of marketers use social media however, 85% of them are unsure of which social media tools are the best to use

Basically, what this means is that there’s results and value in social media but barely anyone really knows how it works let alone use it to their advantage. For small business owners, this is probably you. Not because of ignorance, but simply because you are already spread so thin on time and resources. The last thing you want to do is learn about something that’s ever-changing and complicated to use.

We are a marketing agency that specialise in digital. And still, we are continuously re-educating ourselves to ensure that our skills are up to date and that we bring measurable results for all our clients (for ourselves too!). We practice what we preach and definitely don’t advise our clients on anything we wouldn’t do for ourselves.

So, how does social media help my business?

  • Brand awareness/recognition
  • Improved brand loyalty
  • More opportunity in sales
  • Higher conversion rates than traditional marketing (print, radio, T.V. etc.)
  • Results are instant and instantly accessible
  • Increased SEO rankings and traffic
  • Cost-effective
  • Better customer satisfaction and engagement
  • Marketplace awareness – your competitors are already there; do they outshine you?

What’s the catch? What do I lose?

To set up your social media accounts is FREE. Time is probably the most expensive thing it’ll cost you for building strategy and content. What costs money are ads and going premium on certain platforms.

The two basic platforms we would recommend starting are Facebook and/or Instagram – simply because they are the most commonly used platforms. Beyond these, you can choose platforms that your target audience uses most. For example, if you’re a B2B business, consider LinkedIn.

What makes social media work for you?

It’s the content. If you have bad content, your efforts will go nowhere. Our biggest tip for that is, put yourself in your customer’s shoes and think about “what’s in it for them?”. Jot those ideas down and start creating content. For example, if your business is based on aesthetics, have good quality photos for your Instagram. For cafes and restaurants, see if your menu is inclusive of different diets – and promote them with photos and a short description, post that on Facebook.

So, by now you must agree that social media is a good thing for your business. If you’re looking for a solution and need a strategic approach to utilising social media to up your profits, get in touch with us!
