What We’ve Learnt Managing Social Media for Multiple Businesses

Spoiler: There’s No Magic Formula ✨

If managing social media for multiple businesses has taught us anything, it’s this: there’s no one-size-fits-all strategy.

What gets one business hundreds of views might completely flop for another… and that’s okay.

Every business has a different audience, personality, industry and goal. So instead of copying what’s working for someone else, we focus on finding what works for you

Here are a few things we’ve learnt along the way.

Real Often Beats Perfect

We’re seeing it time and time again: authentic content works.

That doesn’t mean polished content is bad. But a quick video filmed on a phone, a behind-the-scenes moment or a real person talking to camera can often get people far more interested than something that looks overly produced.

Why? Because people want to connect with people, not just brands.

So don’t be afraid to show the face behind the business, share what’s happening behind the scenes or let your personality come through.

You Won’t Know Until You Test It

There’s a lot of advice online about what you should post.

“Post Reels.”
“Use this hook.”
“Post at this time.”
“Use this trending audio.”

But the truth? You won’t know what works for your audience until you actually test it.

We’re constantly experimenting with different:

  • Content formats
  • Hooks and captions
  • Video styles
  • Topics
  • Calls-to-action

And sometimes, the post we think will be a winner… isn’t 😅 That’s where the data comes in.

Your Audience Isn’t Everyone

Just because something worked for another business doesn’t mean it will work for yours. One audience might love educational tips. Another might prefer funny Reels. Someone else might engage most with product demos or customer stories.

The trick is paying attention to what your audience responds to and using those insights to shape your next piece of content.

Consistency Doesn’t Mean Posting Every Day

You don’t need to post seven days a week to have a strong social media presence. Consistency is about showing up regularly with content that has a purpose.

It’s about staying visible, giving your audience something useful or interesting to engage with, and building familiarity with your brand over time. If someone discovers your business today, you want them to see that you’re active, credible and worth following.

Stop Looking at Just Likes

Likes are nice, but they don’t tell the whole story.

We look at things like reach, engagement, saves, shares, clicks and views to understand what’s actually working.

A post with fewer likes might be doing a better job of driving website traffic. A Reel with thousands of views might introduce your brand to hundreds of potential customers. The numbers tell us what to do next 📊

So, What’s the Biggest Lesson?

After managing social media across different businesses, we’ve learnt that successful social media isn’t about finding the perfect formula. It’s about testing, learning and adapting.

What works today might not work next month. A trend that works for one brand might not suit another. And sometimes, the simplest piece of content can surprise you.

The best strategy? Know your audience, keep testing and let the results guide you.
